Originally conceived as a TV series, this thriller from David Lynch is sure to mystify and enthrall viewers at the same time. The three principal characters, whose stories eventually intersect, are Laura Elena Harring, an amnesiac who has escaped a fiery car crash; Naomi Watts, a blonde wannabe actress newly arrived in Los Angeles; and Justin Theroux, a promising young director strong-armed by his producers into casting a particular actress in his new movie. This flick has Naomi Watt's hottest scenes to date, including a couple where she gets it on with co-star Laura Harring.

In 1920s Shanghai, a British doctor (Edward Norton) learns of his wife's (Naomi Watts) infidelity with a charming politician (Liev Schreiber) and angrily drags her along on a posting to a remote region of China that is suffering from a cholera outbreak. Confined to a disease-ravaged land, the young couple struggles to keep their relationship alive, even when faced with news of Watts' pregnancy. Compelling drama, based on the novel by W. Somerset Maugham, also stars Diana Rigg, Toby Jones.

This 2003 drama is an excellent movie. While I wasn't a big fan of the "jump-around" technique used to tell the story, I thought it was a great film with top-rate performances and terrific production overall.

A tragic fatal traffic accident brings together three people from very different ways of life. How they interact and the eventual outcome makes this a very worthwhile film. This one is a must-see for most folks. Incidentially, 21 grams is not a drug reference. Supposedly a body loses 21 grams when you die.
