PURCHASE THE DVD: Crystal Force (1990)

You’ve heard about movies that are “so bad they’re good,” right? Well, Crystal Force, for those with a good sense of humor, is most definitely one of the campiest, goofiest and most fun times you can have with a video rental that’s not intentionally funny. How much convincing does one need when the tagline for the flick is “The door to Hell swings both ways?”

What little there is of a story involves a young woman’s attempts to aid her mother in contacting their recently deceased father/husband. What this has to do with a murderous succubus and several prolonged scenes of demon sex is anyone’s guess. As is any connection to the crystal that the woman picks up in a local curio shop that apparently houses the libidinous demon.

While unavailable on DVD, many a VHS copy of Crystal Force is sitting untouched on dusty video store shelves throughout the United States. If you happen across it, definitely pick it up and take a gander, but be sure to have over some friends for a “beer-and-pizza-night” because this thing is better viewed en-masse. When well-known porn queen Sharon Kane (here credited as Katherine McCall) gets ram-rodded by a guy in a rubber suit, you’ll want to have friends nearby to celebrate. Same goes for Ash Graham’s run-in with a bad-looking monster hand. Too funny to be described.
