This update of the classic Russian novel from screenwriter Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones Diary)falls far short of the 1965 screen version. Keira Knightley, for all her considerable charms, is just no match for Julie Christie and unknown Hans Matheson doesn't hold a candle to Omar Sharif. Do yourself a favour and save a few hours of your life.
