Nude Celebs: Ashley Rhey - Back when it was still OK to have a story and actual actresses in "erotic cinema" (read: the 90's), movies like Forbidden Games were a dime a dozen. By the mid 2000's however, flicks like this seemed rare and precious totems of better days gone by. In reality, Forbidden Games is yet another (somewhat more explicit) Basic Instinct offshoot involving a cop (or in this case, a Department of Justice officer) that gets in over his head with a femme fatale (or three) while investigating the kinky circumstances of a powerful man's murder. In this case, the deceased is a modeling agency kingpin with just a hint of Hugh Hefner crossed with a S&M fetish.
As the babe magnate's mysterious window, Amy Weber is positively a vision of seductive beauty, and fortunately the filmmakers (yes, FILMMAKERS - this is well before everything in softcore was shot on video) knew that showing Weber in various states of undress would exponentially increase their movie's chances for success. What's great is that Weber isn't the only Catherine Trammel-like character here, no... Sharon Stone's iconic ice-princess/sex-hunter is here split into three different characters! And while the beautiful Lesli Kay Sterling barely lets you regard her heavenly form, strikingly hot Gail Harris isn't anywhere as shy, giving this movie a whole extra star for her various fully nude appearances.
If that weren't enough, the deceased's quasi-Hefner lifestyle including a house filled with S&M loving models sunning themselves poolside by day and dressing up in bondage gear by night. As a bonus there are a lot of nice looks at the always gorgeous California-babe Ashley Rhey, the sleek, European Aleksandra Kaniak, and some quick flashes of nudity from the likes of Heidi Staley, Griffin Drew, Teresa Langley and several Forbidden Games Unknowns. The crown for "Best Nude Scene That Has Nothing to Do With The Plot" however, goes to the spectacular Beckie Mullen who strips and frolics around with our D.O.J. friend at the beginning of the picture, and then disappears for the duration.
Secret Games certainly isn't an award-winning picture by any stretch, and the continuous hyper-shot Flashbacks of kinky sex acts get annoying, feeling like X-Files-style revelation sequences if they all occurred in Madonna's Sex book. But taken from the perspective of the time that's passed since the movie was released, and the artless, boring and turgid fare that's defined the "erotic thriller" genre in the 2000's, Secret Games is terrific: a relic of awesomeness from a time when actresses could act AND get naked, filmmakers knew how to use their cameras, and the stories were interesting, if not plausible.
