PURCHASE THE DVD: Hex (2004)

British series about Cassie Hughes (Christina Cole), the latest in a long line of witches to be seduced by fallen angel Azazeal (Michael Fassbender) in hopes of unleashing evil on the world. Cassie discovers her hertiage when she finds a strange vase on the property of the old manor where she attends bording school and her telekenetic powers are unleashed. With the help of her recently dead friend Thelma (Jemima Rooper) Cassie must fight her fate while trying to fit in at school. The series is an obvious stepchild of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and while it doesn't quite have the wit or the fun of the original, Hex is a decent show in its own right. It has a darker, more serious tone than Buffy and takes itsself rather seriously. It's biggest asset is Christina Cole, a soulful blonde who holds the screen every time she appears. Cole is a talented young actress and makes the audience care about Cassie's troubles.
