PURCHASE THE DVD: How I Met Your Mother (2005)

This US sitcom has an interesting premise. A man (voiced by Bob Saget) tells his children about how he met their mother. Of course it's a very roundabout story and virtually the entire show is a flashback, a la The Wonder Years. The writing is sharp and the cast of five friends is good, but the titular star Josh Radner is overshadowed by Buffy's Allyson Hannigan and Doogie Hauser himself Neil Patrick Harris, who steals the show as a tailhunting horndog. Another big find is Cobie Smolders, a Canadian cutie who ends up NOT being the kid's future mom.
