An Academy Award-winning performance by Forest Whitaker as one of the 20th century's most infamous dictators, Ugandan strongman General Idi Amin Dada, fuels this film version of Giles Foden's novel. Through the eyes of (fictitious) Scottish doctor Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy), whose aid work in the central African nation brings him to the attention of newly installed president Amin, the despot's increasing brutality and descent into murderous paranoia is vividly depicted. Kerry Washington, Simon McBurney also star.
