PURCHASE THE DVD: Night of the Creeps (1986)

Entertaining B-movie doubles as both a campy homage to the genre and a bit of a trend-setter for movies like Scream that thrive on kind of tongue-in-cheek self-references. Tom Atkins is a cop "on the edge," haunted by the memory of a coed crush that was killed by a ax-weilding psycho. When madness starts breaking out around the same college campus after a fraternity prank goes wrong, the cop is called back to revisit his dark past while also having to deal with some very strange things in the present: reanimated corpses filled with a virulent strain of rabid slugs escaped from a alien spacecraft. Assisted by a doofy college freshman, his handicapped best friend and a doe eyed cutie of a sorority sister (Jill Whitlow), the cop must figure out what's going on fast before too many people are killed and reanimated into zombies by the alien slugs!
