PURCHASE THE DVD: Open House (1987)
As the 1980's slasher movies evolved, they simply became more and more ludicrous. By the end of the decade, trhere were killer leprecans, a variety of murderous dolls and even a teenage girl hell-bent on bloody vengeance who brought back from the dead by having her body wired to a tin-can robot. Yes, it was all there, and it was fun - movies rife with surperfluous nudity, reaching plots, broken logic and nonsensical set pieces.
Open House is a proud member of the decade of excess, (just look a the permed hairstyles), and even if it is a dumb movie - and it truly is a dumb movie - it offers up a substantial body count laced with the usual gory trappings. Former John Carpenter muse Adrienne Barbeau stars as the love interest of a radio talk show therapist regularly called by a serial killer who claims he is offing, get this, real estate agents. Of course, what is Barbeau's job? Real estate agent, and now both her life and that of her radio jock beau are in danger.
Be sure to look for Ms.Roxanne Baird as a nubile homeowner into domination gear who seduces her real estate agent to ensure he is committed to the sale of her home. Her outfit (and then absense of one) makes for one of the more entertaining parts of this foolishness.
