PURCHASE THE DVD: She's The Man (2006)

Adding a splash of adolescent angst to Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," this charming romantic comedy follows the efforts of the teenage Viola (Amanda Bynes) to convince the students at her twin brother's boarding school that she's actually, well, her brother (James Kirk). Complications arise when Viola falls for her handsome roommate (Channing Tatum), who's in love with a beautiful girl (Laura Ramsey) who's in love with Viola … in drag.

Cute and funny, but ultimately mindless. Bynes has a certain amount of charm and is good with the physical comedy and she derserves better materiel than this. She's never quite convincing as being able to pass for a boy and Channing Tatum, who plays her love interest, is utterly lacking in talent. If Bynes doesn't want to end up trapped in the Hilary Duff level of showbiz, she'd better start demanding better flick from her agents.
