Nude Celebs: Laila Odom - Essentially an urban Sex and the City but with a lot more "street" than "city," Zane's Sex Chronicles is a curio of late-night cable entertainment. The leads can, for the most part, deliver their lines convincingly. The production value - though a bit too gauzy - is quite good. And the entire vibe of each episode is sexy, but not exploitative. What results is a show with actual characters moving through their (albeit sexy) lives, all woven together by friendship and the writings of a sex-columnist named "Zane" who just happens to be one of the ladies in this group of gals. The one big knock on the show is that the leads are so attractive that their scant nude scenes become frustrating for regular viewers that want the goods, a problem the producers seem to laughably address by bringing Zane's columns to the screen with softcore/hardcore talent that isn't bashful about dropping their kit and riding off into the sunset. The quick bits of harder softcore make the show feel a bit unsure of what direction it wants to go in, but overall this is a decent show for couples that aren't interested in porn, but that might want to watch something a little saucy.
Probably one of the best single episodes of this series thanks to an all-out, go for broke love scene between the delectable Christina DeRosa's "Eboni" character and her current suitor, Wrong Number also generates some heat in sequences that find pornstar Nikki Fairchild acting out Laila Odom's fantasy trysts with a man she meets accidentally over the phone. Odom herself is featured in a sexy bit of kitchen sex, while Patrice Fisher's Patience gets it on fully clothed during her own love scene. While the sex is prominent, many of the show's storylines get plenty of screentime, especially the rough waters being tread by Lyric (Maya Gilbert) and Esteban.
