Nathalie (played by svelte, seductive Emmanuelle Beart) is the name a Parisian prostitute assumes for a special mission or "private investigation." She is engaged for this unusual, and secretive task by a doctor who is also an upper middle class wife that fears her husband is unfaithful to her. Nathalie has to seduce the clueless husband and regularly report all details of her relationship with him, including his most intimate sexual preferences in bed. Nathalie is stunning, charming and cunning. Can Nathalie and her reports to the mistrustful wife be trusted? Is the middle aged husband indeed unfaithful?
While sultry and atmospheric, this film about sex isn't exploitative, and those looking for a skin flick will be sorely disappointed. While Beart indulges with a few quick glimpses, nudity is scarce, though there's a decent look at Aurore Auteuil as a patient of the good doctor and Sophie Noel impresses in her quick flash of screen time as another pro at Beart's workplace. Recommended for fans of more cerebral, dramatic sexual fare.
